Why does a Mixer Grinder Make a lot of Noise?

They are most commonly used to grind hard food items like nuts, spices, grains, and pulses. Some models can also be used to blend soft food items like cooked vegetables or frozen desserts. Mixer-grinders are designed to chop, grind, and mix ingredients for various purposes.

They have a motor that rotates a fixed blade inside a metallic drum, while another blade inside the drum is used for chopping purposes. The blades rotate at high speeds which can cause them to vibrate and create loud noises.

Mixer Grinders make noise because of their design and structure. A mixer grinder is a fast rotating machine with sharp blades, which is used to grind all types of food items like chutney powders, batters, etc.

it is usually powered by a motor and the normal electric motor produces some type of sound. This sound may be the screeching noise or maybe some other type of noise.

7 reasons for making these noises are:

1. If the blades of the mixer grinder are not rotating at high speed then there will be no noise, but if they rotate at a higher speed then there will be a screeching sound or noise which you can notice while grinding the hard thing like bones and coconut.

2. If some foreign material gets inside the motor while using them then it also causes noise while running.

3. If the jar of the mixer grinder is not properly locked with the base then it may cause noise while running.

4. If there is some imbalance in the centre pin then that also causes such issues where you get such screeching sounds while grinding anything in them.

5. Sometimes if there is any loose fit between the stand and motor then also this will create such problems where you get such noises instead of smooth grinding.

6. When your mixer grinder’s blades do not fit in their slots properly, they will start rubbing against one another and making loud noise while grinding or even chopping vegetables.

7. Mixer grinders make a lot of noise as it grinds and chops the food. In many cases, the loudness of the mixer grinder depends on the power of the motor. As a rule, the bigger the motor, the louder it gets.

Mixie produces sound because it is working hard to meet your expectations. It can happen sometimes where the 3-layered stainless steel blades are coming in contact with the fixed blade during sharp curving, which makes a sound.

The noise occurs when the mixer grinder’s blades hit the container’s side or bottom at a high speed. The blade hits against the container in an attempt to clear off all the contents after every rotation.

If you are using it to make chutney, the sound is probably because of over-heating. It may also happen if you are grinding hard food items like carrots or beetroots.

How to Reduce the Noise From a Mixer Grinder?

In case you find the sound of your mixer-grinder disturbing while blending or grinding ingredients, there are a few things you can do:

Ensure the blender jar is screwed tightly onto the base of the machine.

If it isn’t secure, the machine will shake during operation and create a lot of noise. Remove any hard objects from the jar before using it for grinding or blending. Hard objects mounted on its bottom could also cause the jar to vibrate excessively during operation.

Check if all parts of your mixer-grinder are in good condition.

If they’re not, the machine may malfunction and create excessive noise during operation. Make sure that the blades are always in contact with the food. If you are grinding soft items, chances are that there is not much space left in the container.

That means that there is no space for grinding, so it has to push ingredients out of its way in order to grind them. This creates a lot of friction between the blade and the side of the container.

If you are grinding hard items, there is space left in the container for more grinding, so you don’t have to exert as much effort to grind them.

This again creates a lot of friction between the blade and the side of the container, hence creating noise. Always keep your mixer grinder’s blades sharpened.

Dull blades create more friction between them and other objects leading to more noise. Properly sharpened blades would be able to work with less effort and would make.

Check if the blades are assembled properly

If your mixer grinder is making a lot of noise or struggling while grinding, the first thing that you need to check is if the blades are assembled properly in their place.

Sometimes, while cleaning or using your mixer grinder, it may happen that you will disassemble the blades without even realizing it.

If this happens, when you assemble them back in their place, they may no longer fit perfectly in their place.

As a result of which, the blades will start rubbing against each other while grinding and thus cause your machine to make noise.

More Tips to Minimise the Noise of Mixer Grinders:

1. If you are grinding something that has water content like pulses then add some dry rice or poha (aval) to that. Pulse will get powdered faster because dry ingredients absorb water and thus it will get powdered faster.

2. Grind at least two batches together, if possible. This will ensure that the motor does not overheat during the grinding process.

3. While grinding grains like wheat or rava, don’t allow to grind it for more than 20-30 seconds maximum. This will prevent the motor from overheating and makes sure that your motor works trouble-free for a long time to come without any problems.

4. Frequently check the oil level in the grinder bowl before grinding anything else in it. If the oil level is low then add some vegetable oil or coconut oil into it so that your mixer grinder can work smoothly without any problem for a longer period of time without overheating.

5. Use at low-speed settings. This will help you to reduce the noise level of your mixer grinder. Also, using the mini jar instead of the big jar reduces the noise level too.

6. Keep your distance from the mixer grinder while grinding or mixing food items. If you keep your distance then it reduces the noise level too.
